In just less than 24 hours, prices of two major commodity in North Cyprus has been increased. First it was an increase in fuel price by the TRNC council of Ministers, and now electricity has also been increased by the TRNC electricity authority.
The Turkish Cypriot Electricity Authority (KIB-TEK) on Wednesday announced an increase in the price of electricity in the country.
According to the announcement by the electricity authority's chairman, Ahmet Hüdaoğlu, electricity has been raised by 7.88 kuruş with immediate effect.
Ahmet emphasized the fact that electricity has not been raised for two years because the authority did not complied with the regulations.
If the order had been followed, the increase would be implemented automatically every month and it would not be felt, he said.
He further stated that someone who usually pay paid100 TL for electricity bill would now pay 114 TL.
