The new year in the Nigerian music industry comes with new possibilities, anything can happen! From the long-awaited collaboration by Davido and Wizkid to a possible public rift between Tekno and Mr. Eazi here are our music projections for 2018.

1. There Will Be A Public ‘Mr. Eazi And Tekno’ Beef

Even though the rift between these pop stars can almost go unnoticed, we won’t be wrong if we say Tekno and Mr. Eazi are not best of friends. In 2017, NET released an article connecting the dots to what might have led to their underlying schism and a couple of months later, Tekno gave flesh to our theory by previewing a beef track that is seemingly directed at Mr. Eazi.

In all honesty, the song sounded like a fire record with strong potentials of becoming an instant hit. Whether it will be released for mere conversations or with the intention of an actual beef, we are pretty convinced that Tekno will drop that fire thus leading to a public beef.

2. Reekado Banks Will Exit Mavin Records

With the height of success that has been attained by Reekado Banks, one won’t be wrong for expecting the singer to part ways with the Don Jazzy led Mavin Records this year. Since joining the label in 2014, Banks has proven to be an artiste with so much potentials and one that knows his onions. With consistent hit scores and a critically acclaimed project to his name, Reekado Banks seems positioned for a solo journey. The stakes are definitely high for him though.

3. A New Psquare Album

We know  this might come off as a tiring gist but hey, Psquare remains one of the greatest Nigerian pop group of all time and conversations around their make-up or break cannot be brushed aside. After their most recent (messy) fallout, the Okoye brothers (Peter and Paul) confirmed that the Psquare group has been dissolved and each of them have gone on to release solo records and music videos. Many might have accepted the split as the new reality, but we are making a contrary projection. Singer Davido had attempted to reunite the brothers in a bid to surprise guests at his 30 Billion Concert which held in Lagos on the 27th of December. According to Davido, the brothers were willing to put their differences aside and bless fans with a memorable performance; but Paul was unfortunately already billed to perform at another event on the same day in Calabar.

We are predicting that the brothers will somehow bury the hatchet and reunite once again. We are also in high hopes that a new Psquare album will be released this year. 

4. A Davido And Wizkid Collaboration

We won’t be over expectant for looking forward to a Wizkid and Davido collaboration. Both artistes showed up on statge for each of their concerts which held in December after a year-long throwing of tantrums and subs by both artistes which even extended to their respective fans. Both artistes seem to have found love in a hopeless place and we hope this new ‘bromance’ will birth that Starboy x OBO collaboration that has remained elusive for years.

5. Adekunle Gold Will Propose To Simi 

There have been speculations that Adekunle Gold and Simi are an item even though these claims remain unconfirmed. None of them have refuted the rumor so it’s safe to say they are, right? The ‘couple’ have been performing together and doing (mushy) stuff together. It will be an interesting love story if Adekunle finally pops the question this year because they’ve reportedly been together even before the fame. Adekunle is turning 30 this year (old enough to be somebody’s husband) and Simi is not underaged too.

We are in high hopes that Mr. Gold will propose this year.
