Another Student Puts Near East University On Blast. Accuse Them Of Stealing From African Students.

They say when a child keeps crying and pointing towards a certain direction, its either because his mom is there or his dad is there. Now this problem that has been rearing its head on social media about how Near East University in Cyprus is extorting money from African students through a scheme they implemented in their school fees payment system. Last month, DJ Activityz put the school on blast and even organized a protest that was shut down by the school which we think is pretty unfair. Just today, another student of the school by the name of Prince Knoxman Ndoda has taken to his Facebook page to detail how the school takes money from students through dubious means and make it very difficult for students that don't bulge to graduate. Read below.
OPEN LETTER TO THE NEAR EAST UNIVERSITY DIRECTOR.We seek to invigorate the African Students rights. We as African Students we have commitment in our academic studies.During our stay here at Near East University,we have encountered poor services from your administration that cannot communicate in English,we are left guessing as to why you named it the International office.Students have been denied entry into the exam room upon failure to settle the tuition fee on time.Mr Director it's not all African students who can manage to pay on time, they are many students struggling financially and they remain in conceal. We are willing to pay the money but not cash upfront. While we understand that the Universities in Cyprus demand cash upfront and this is a broader trend across the island,we also note that you are the same people who hired these conman in Africa who masquerade as agents.Their deceitful nature has landed many into trouble.Firstly we are disturbed by their acts of giving misleading information about Cyprus many remain unemployed, hence they have no means to raise funds for their tuition fee.Secondly we oppose the arbitrary 10% fine upon failure to pay the tuition fee on time.Students from all the academic spectrum remain baffled by this kind of act,as this was not stated in our student letters.Third and in particular,we are of the idea that if we were given proper information many wouldn't have been here.It is of paramount importance to note that we were given untrue and fabricated information by your agents.Parents were told to empty all their pockets so that we go to the promised land.We are here and the opposite is true.Mr Director i don't want to dwell on accusations for they are endless. We hold that the administration as well as many policies they advocate for.perpetuate a setback to our academic lives. The administration should not refuse students into the exam room but we commend the University to lock our results. We respectfully request the administration to consider the plight of the majority. Some of us have even abandoned attending lectures and joined fellow comrades in the trenches to raise money for our tuition fee.Consider the situation in Africa, our economy is not doing fine at the present moment.Although we don't have uniform opinions on certain issues,we agree that the University could and should do more to improve the conditions for the African students. The Dean of students has betrayed the role of his/her office.Students send petitions and they never consider any as long as it is inline with the school money. Our question is why is it there?Instead we are left with a single gesture and lingering questions.Basically Cyprus is surrounded by African students who are silent about their continent's economy.Furthermore your administration continues to collect money from students even if they failed to write exams, the tuition money is demanded and we are told you can't sit for the exam your chance passed. This is a clear sign that your administration is illogical and their thoughts are full of pitfalls. We offer concrete steps the University can take in it's stated goal in improving the experience at the University.Lastly we applaud your willingness to grant us African events that unite African from different backgrounds, cultures and religions so on and so forth. We say thank you and thank you ever more.Creating an environment of inclusion is the responsibility of the University. In order for a meaningful and lasting change to occur,we as African student we have decided to take proactive steps, expecting the very best of one another and working to the common goal of getting our degrees.Mr Director we are not against you but we owe you the truth, nothing but the truth.Compliments of the season.RegardsSincerelyAfrican Students.
