#EXCLUSIVE: These Are The Best Rap Songs From Cyprus Ever.

There has been a debate lately about the state of rap as a form of music lately in Cyprus. Facebook was abuzz with the news of rap new commer, Chyzzi (one half of the Cyprus based group, QRG), who said he will bet $10,000 that no rapper in Cyprus can beat him in a rap battle. Various rappers including Flamez from DET and Masscut responded but no one involved went to the studio to release any diss tracks.

This incident has made REPLAYTUNES revisit some of the songs and rappers that have released that really contributed to the culture of African rap in Cyprus as well as pick out a few songs that have stood out over the years. We consider these songs as the best rap songs to ever be made in Cyprus and we present you our list.

One thing that is certain right now is that RAP/HipHop is no longer the fore front genre of music among black Africans in Cyprus anymore. Considering the fact that rappers like El Bee, TBonez and Kevin Tita all won the ASGA Awards in the categories of Song of the Year and Artist of the Year each with rap songs.  

El Bee and Kevin Tita have both won the ASGA Awards for Artist of the Year and Song of the Year  with purely rap songs. El Bee did it with his then smash tune 'Street Anthem' while Kevin Tita did it twice with his 2014 release 'Grass To Grace' (this was the songs that helped him win the hearts of many listeners in Cyprus) and in 2017 with his chart topper 'WAIT'. Tbonez at his peak also won Performing Act of the Year in 2014 when his biggest song at the time was 'Soundtrack', a rap song.

Rap music in Cyprus had it's peak year however in 2016 when the VersaceBoyz crew started a beef with almost all the rappers in Cyprus, ranging from DET to Syko to Masscut and Zimbabwean rap artist, KayPee. After that whole beef wave died down, rap music in Cyprus hasn't taken the fore front since then but it has been breathing through sonsg releases from the new group, QRG, Masscut, DaFist, Flamez just to name a few. It just hasn't been able to get back to what it used to be prior to this period.

We took a deep listen to a bunch of rap songs that have been released over the years in Cyprus and we selected these songs based on rhyme skims, message, delivery, punchlines, popularity and quality of production. These are what the Best Rap Songs to ever be released in Cyprus to date.
