So today we were listening to a bunch of songs from Cyprus acts and we particularly paid attention to over 5 songs from Cyprus based act. Dimix. By the time we got to the fifth song, there was mumblings in the room which bulit into a some what celebratory stream of comments from everyone around. Listening to songs by Cyprus artists from time to time is like a ritual not just among us as ReplayTunes but a lot of die hard fans on the Island.
Dimix is an artist with a difference in Cyprus at the moment. Listening to a song like 'Follow Me' which he released last year with an acoompanying music video is really what put us onto him as an artist. Further down the line he has released a few more tracks such as 'Cindarella' , 'Want Some' and 'Bamibala'. Just to name a few.
Now what really gets you intruiged about Dimix's soud is that he mixes both english langauage and Yoruba native tongue (which is the most popular language in Nigeria and outside Nigeria). And there's just something about what Dimix is doing with his craft that might bothers between the lines of generic and brilliance, he found a balance. Take for an example, on 'Cindarella', he blends in well with the beat produced fro him by Zimbabwean ace, Phatso and on Songs like 'Want Some' and 'Bambiala', he brings a whole different vibe. If Dimix drops an EP or album today, one word would be suitable to describe it ... 'VIBES'.
