#REPLAYTUNES: What The Hell Happened To Korede Bello's Career?

Who remembers the time when Korede Bello stole the hearts of Nigerian and African ladies in 2014 after he was featured on the smash hit 'Dorobucci' alongside fellow label mates, Mavins Crew. He was almost the stand out member of the group as many ladies spotted his dimples and smile which they called cute.

No doubt, Korede Bellow is talented and his thin voice and melody helped him get placed ahead of label mate, Reekado Banks. People even mocked Reekado by sayin he doesn't look fresh and that his voice can't compare to that of Korede.

Korede followed up the success of  'Dorobucci' with his own smash hit song 'Godwin' which not only topped the local charts in Nigeria but also went viral on the internet as many fans made videos of them singing the song on Instgram. He followed with more hits like 'Romantic' ft Tiwa Savage and what will now be known as his biggest hit of all time 'Do Like That' which was so big on Spotify and SnapChat and spawned various remixes and covers in 2016.

His debut album 'Belloved' was released and this is where things started taking a downward turn for the talented singer. The album was a flop despite all the hit singles and features that were churned out to build the anticipation from his fans despite very good reviews from various online music critics. It just didn't have the impact expected of an album that was heavily promoted with the backing of a label as huge as Mavins.

Well 2016 seems to have become his peak year. The subsequent songs Korede has released such as 'My People' featuring another artist that will be a good case study for 'What The Hell Happen To His Career?', Lil Kesh barely made any impact anywhere. He recently released s new song '2Geda' in which he is urging Nigerians to rise together and defeat societal ills.

On the other hand, Reekado Banks who was the rejected stone at first is now the second biggest act on Mavin Records behind Tiwa Savage. He has gone on to release a very successful solo album titled 'SpotLight' which did very well and produced a slew of hits lile 'Oluwa Ni', 'Sugar Baby', 'Standard', 'Chop Am'. Thats just from the album alone. Recently he released more hits including 'Jeje', 'Problem', 'Like'  and 'Move' feat Vanessa Mdee.

This just goes to show you that success and grace isn't only reserved for those that have swagger, thin voice, curly hair or dimples. Hard work beats talent where talent is lazy. We can't totally blame Korede for the direction his career is headed in. Mavin Record has to be  blamed too for not doing enough for him as well.

Korede and Mavins rode the wave and horse of him being a fine boy that has a nice voice till the point that the wagon fell apart. You also have to keep in mind that fine boys with cute voices such as WizKid, Davido, Kiss Daniel, Tekno and the likes are killing it. It's s shame that Korede might never be big enough anymore like everyone thought he would be. Case closed.
