A Turkish man has been sentenced to 3 years and 10 months in prison by a Girne court for raping his daughter and then fleeing to North Cyprus using a fake identify.
The accused identified as Mehmet Korkmaz is said to have entered the country using his brothers's identity and stayed for two years.
Before he came to North Cyprus, he was charged in Turkey for raping his 17-year-old daughter but later escaped to North Cyprus using his brother's identity card.
The accused who entered the TRNC from the Girne Tourism Port on October 2, 2015, falsified the Turkish identity card belonging to his brother Arif Korkmaz following his escape from Turkey to continue his life in TRNC.
He was arrested in Girne on December, 4, 2017 when he entered the country using the fake identity and was charged with "fake documents", "Impersonation" and "Fraud."
