In just the third accident of the day, a 46-year-old man was injured when his car hit a road side barrier close to the Sedat Simavi industrial vocational school in Lefkosa on Tuesday afternoon.
According to police report, the accident happened at about 12:30 pm on Tuesday.
The driver of the car, Hüseyin Arslan, 46 who was heading towards towards Ismet Kotak Square reportedly lost control of the wheel hitting a road side barrier in the process.
The driver was trapped in side the car as after the car boot came under the road side railing. He was rescued by the police and medical crew.
He sustained a very serious injury in the accident and was taken to the Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkosa for treatment.
The man was in the school to visit his son when the accident happened.
This is the third accident reported today within the space of 4 hours. Authorities should do more to reduce accidents on the road especially on the mountain road.
