Is This The Best Gospel Artist Cyprus Has Seen So Far? Let's Introduce DUDU.

We first came cross this amazing talent we are about to talk about in 2014 as a member of the now defunct Cyprus gospel music groul, Lyical Amplifiers. The group had a buzz at the time with the release of their two singles 'Kaliye' and 'Never Run Down' which both came with videos. We specially took note of him because from what we heard, he was the producer in the group and while it is said not to be good to judge gospel music, but excuse us if we say he had the best verses in the group songs. His name was later revealed to us to be Dudu Uwah and he performs simply as DUDU.

After we stopped hearing about the group, Dudu released what we guess was his debut single titled 'Amazing Grace' on which he featured one of the raves of the moment in Cyprus then, YungBodzy.  Award winning rapper, Kevin Tita even said on his instagram that it was his best song from Cyprus ever and he might do a remix with Dudu. After one listen, the song became very catchy to everyone that downloaded it and we really thought the song was going to get bigger on the Island and beyond but after a while the buzz surrounding the song died down. 

Fast forward to 2016, out of no where Dudu announced on his Facebook page that he will be dropping an EP (for those that don't know, EP stands for Extended Play and is a music album released soley online with amount of tracks ranging from 4 to 10). Dudu titled the EP 'The King Is Here'. As one of the very first few listeners, we already knew the body of work will be dope and waited patiently till it finally dropped. Actually it was one of his fans called Evarist Emmanuel that put us on to the songs on th EP and it oh my holy Jesus, it was mind blowing.

Now this EP is not just your everyday EP you hear artists talk about and then they drop it and disappoint. Dudu has not been a regular face on ReplayTunes so cut the thinking that he might have paid for this publication. Now with that out the way, we would like to point out the fact that the new trend of gospel music has been amazing with the original production and top notch videos from artists like Frank Edwards, Sinach, Eben, Joe Praise and co, they really changed the face of gospel music from the old boring days of Akanchawa and Chioma Jesus where old gospel church songs were recorded over even more boring beats and released as albums with very poor quality videos there by making it seem like gospel music could only be produced in such poor manner.

Dudu's 'The King Is Here EP' follows in this new trend with very top quality production as it comprises of 6 wonderful tracks with the most successful song so far being 'Champions' featuring Stephanie which he shot a video for. The video was so dope that it was nominated as Best Video Of The Year at the ASGA Awards 2016 even though it didn't win but many felt it should have won. If you have heard the song or watched the video, trust me that is not even close to the best song on the EP.

So far so good our favorite track is 'Package' seconded by 'Anyedo Boss MMI'. Damn...... this two songs will have you asking 'so gospel music can sound this good?' and that is no joke. Infact the full EP is just a brilliant body of work. It is better than 90% of the Nigerian music you might have heard your whole life to the point where we kept asking if he couldn't have made it longer than 6 tracks but thats the trick, give them quality over quantity and have them coming back for more.

So far so good 'The King Is Here' is probably the best EP ever released in Cyprus by any artist both circular and gospel and it might be hard for any other artist to beat this feat, well we can't tell but so far it is the best. It is such a shame though that we don't see many christian students on the Island or even the ones that attend thesame church with him sharing the links to the EP or even talking about it on social media to help the buzz grow bigger than it already is. The EP has already featured  on LoveWorldTV.com (that is one of the biggest gospel music platforms in the world) and thanks to his core fans, the word is getting out there about it.

We rate the EP a solid 8.5 out of 10.
