Davido Vs WizKid....... Who Is Winning?

WizKid is currently the bonafide No.1 artist from Africa both in the continent and internationally, after he got the Drake feature on the remix to his monster smash single 'Ojuelegba', the boy has been on a whole new wave. Do we need remind you that he was featured on Drake's billbooard chart topping single 'One Dance' which has sold over 2 Million ringtones in the USA and has been number one for 6 weeks now. Do we need to tell you that he was featured on the summer smash 'Boom' by Justin Bieber's personal producers, Major Lazer (Ty Dollar $ign was also featured on the song) and the audio alone has over 50 million views on Youtube. Do we need tell you that he has just been featured on Tinie Tempah's latest single 'Mama Cita' which debuted within the Top 10 of the UK Hot 100 Charts this week? Do we need tell you that Young Pablo is on a whole new WAVE? He just finished a couple of songs with grammy award winning producer, Swizzbeatz who has produced numerous songs for the likes of Jay Z (yes the one that married Beyonce) and oh before we forget, R.Kelly featured him on his latest album.

On the other hand, his closest competition in the afrobeats music genre who is no other than Davido has also been working hard and killing it on the features, yes he has featured Olamide in his song 'The Money', he also featured on Danagog's song 'Hookah', he also featured on Lil kesh's song 'Yaya Yoyo' and on Falz D Bahdguy's song 'Bad Baddo Baddest' and also on 'Osinachi' remix by Humble Smiths.

If you can remember clearly in 2014 when the music industry in Nigeria turned it's back on WizKid when he was loosing awards and was not even getting any nominations in some cases even though most of his songs then were quiet bigger than the ones released by artists that were getting nominated over him. Remember when Davido said these exact words 'Everybody knows who is winning, go and check the last numbers on our concert tickets'. Remember when everyone was celebrating because Davido had won a total of 21 awards and WizKid had just 17 to his name back then. This year Davido didn't even make the BET Awards nominations list while WizKid was nominated and he didn't even post it on Twitter or Instagram. Infact He only posted about the Drake song once which shows that he is not trying to live in the moment but keep staying focused and working hard.

One edge we feel Wizkid has over Davido is the fact that the everyday African youth can relate t his story, the message in his songs, his confidence and most of, he is actually talented and knows how to carry himself in times of controversy. Davido seems to only sing for Abuja and Lekki people while people from other places listen to his music because it is forced down their throats through massive airplay and hyping on the web.

The only time Davido's music really connected with the everyday Nigerian was when he sang 'Aye' in which he was talking about something we could all relate to, he should have learned from that and make more songs people can reflect on rather than the every day 'I get money', 'I am the baddest, 'I will take your girl, 'I will take you to Dubai and buy you anything you like' or the constant insult he has been raining on Dele Momodu which has now become his selling point.

So WizKid versus Davido, who is winning... hey cut the crap already. the answer is WIZKID.
