ASGA Award winning rapper, Yung Nature has publicly come out to say he is withdrawing from the ASGA Awards this year. A few days ago we published an article on how the ASGA Awards committee in GAU scrapped out the Song Of The Year and Artist Of The Year categories because Yung Nature was the only artist in GAU to release a song and promote it that year, seems the reports we got is true and we still maintain our stand on the matter.... Thats BULLSHIT.
According to our findings, their excuse was that no artists from other African countries released a song and the question remains... did anyone ask them to be lazy? How can you refuse to reward a hard-working artist because his colleagues refused to work hard? How do you intend to encourage African students to do something positive during their stay in Cyprus when you fail to acknowledge the ones that are doing good already?
According to another report we got, there are some categories that had only Nigerians on it yet the so called committee chose to scrap the ones that had to do with music. Could it be because they don't have anyone close to them that stand to benefit from it? Or just pure disregard for music as an instrument of preaching a positive gospel about Africa?
The plain truth is this.. Will they rather see Yung Nature leave music and take to other forms of finding fulfilment, especially illegal stuffs that will put Africa to shame should he be caught? Shame on the committee for bringing up that lame excuse as a way to marginalize a hard working African individual. If he is the only artist that worked hard this year, why not reward him as a way to encourage other artists in GAU to step up their game? why not? If an artist from another African country was the only one that released and promoted their song this year, will they agree not to be awarded because Nigerian artists chose to be lazy?
This is the reason why when some artists make it, they don't look back or remember where they came from because on their way to the top, they are looked down upon and disregarded by the very people that are suppose to support them. We are very sure that if in the future Yung Nature becomes a super star, it is this same people that are disregarding him now that will be going about telling everyone how they went to same school with him. Don't try to kill a man's dream because another man chose to keep sleeping. Period.
