A girl who went to the apartment of a foreign student she met in Lefkosa reportedly fell from a balcony while trying to escape from the suspect who made advances on her.
Vedat Unkun, who was visiting the house of the foreign student she had met at a market in Lefkosa on Wednesday, was frightened and tried to escape through the balcony of the apartment and sustained injury in the process.
According to report by Turkish Cypriot daily, Havadis, the incident happened at about 1:00pm on Wednesday when the girl paid a visit to the foreign student for reasons best known to her.
An argument later broke between them.
The unidentified student is said to have grabbed and assaulted the young girl who warned him to leave her alone.
The frightened young girl sensing danger, tried to escape by jumping through the balcony of the building where she broke her left foot.
Following the incident, the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment. Police later identified the suspect.
He was arrested and charged to court for bodily harm and attempted rape.
